Ivomec for puppy?
Ivomec for puppy?
Can u start Ivomec on 8 week old puppy? Going with 1/10 cc per 20lbs. Pups not 20lbs yet, but I believe the 1/10cc will be safe?

Why would you want to?

They dispense Heartgard and Iverhart at that age. We've been suggesting Iverhart Max, which covers tapeworms, roundworms and hookworms and keeps you from having to continue puppy wormer. If you are DIY with an ivermectin product, puppy mg/lb is the same as adult, just base it on weight.
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

In regards to dose...I've seen a lot go with 1/10 per 10lbs, but also have read that 1/10 per 20lbs is still more then adequate.

For a pup I would dilute with PG 30 to 1.gdog wrote:Huh?shags wrote:Why would you want to?

Like Ted said, start them around 3 months and dose the same way and amount per lb.that you do adults.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Is a puppy born with immunity to heartworm disease?
answer No, even nursing puppies are at risk for heartworm infection. Puppies of any age exposed to mosquitoes carrying infective larvae can become heartworm-infected, so it is important to begin prevention early. Puppies can be started on heartworm preventive as early as four to eight weeks of age, depending on the label recommendations of the preventive.
