First Aid Kit

Post by kylenicholas02 » Mon Dec 01, 2008 3:26 pm

Hey guys, I just had a buddy have to take his GSP to the vet for some staples. What should I be looking for in a first aid kit?
Thanks
Kyle

If you search First Aid Kit under the search feature, you'll come up with a few posts of what to look for/put in one. It has some good stuff (I'd post the thread, but am not sure how to do it!!! :? )

My neighbor vet told me that the best was sanitary napkins (I'm thinking at least 80% of us know what those are) and vet wrap is the best thing you can carry in the field. The combo can help you get out of most any bind, and the vet wrap can help isolate any broken legs. I don't know much about that EMT Gel the dog magazines are always plugging, but that probably couldn't hurt to toss in the vest either.

Any more stuff than that would force you to remove one of your 12 oz. beers from the vest, and that would be absurd.

Other times this might be right but there is never any form of alcohol involved with guns or hunting by me or anyone else in the field while I am.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Agreed, I just like to immerse inappropriate humor whenever possible. I've seen one too many bunny hunters in central Oregon shoot through the roof or floor of their trucks when partying in the sage lands. Those are also the same idiots doing 50mph and shooting their 10-.22's out of the window.

But don't let that detract from my tip. I think vet wrap and a sanitary napkin can be a valuable combo for almost any bind out there. Will at least give you enough time to get your dog to the truck and to the emergency vet.
