Securing Lewis Dog Boots (black rubber)
Securing Lewis Dog Boots (black rubber)
Any suggestions on the best way to secure these dog boots?
Re: Securing Lewis Dog Boots (black rubber)
Put a wrap of Vet Wrap around the ankle (fetlock?), slip on the Lewis Boot, then a wrap of athletic tape around the upper part. Vet Wrap is like a sticky ace bandage material. I bought mine at a horse tack shop, but you can buy the human kind at most drug stores. I read about this technique on this site I think. Anyway it works well. I used to be a Ruff Wear fan until I tried the Lewis Boots with the described taping procedure. Only thing to watch is wrapping the tape too tight.
Good luck.

You can buy the yellow pre wrap stuff from walgreens, that is what I use, wrap the leg a little past where you plan on taping also. Instead of athletic tape I use duct tape, I lost way to many boots with althletic tape.
Just like what was stated before DONT WRAP TO TIGHT.

I know this is late, but after loosing a few lewis dog boots my methed is...
vet wrap around anckle
slip boot on
pick up opposite foot to aply weight to that boot
fold down front@back flap
2 wraps of athletic to leg don't tear
unfold back flap
1 wrap around flap and leg don't tear
unfold front flap
2 wraps around flap and leg tear tape
last but not least "red duct tape" to cap it off
easy to find red duct tape
