Masses on Sides

Post by ddoyle » Sun Feb 05, 2023 6:52 pm

Folks,
Hoping for some help here! I have 3 yo Male GSP not intact who gets these random masses on his side. Have been biopsied by vet and comes back normal and blood work all looks good. Antibiotics seemed to help when they give them. He will gnaw these open and let them drain and then they come right back.....I am open to all suggestions as he is an inside dog! Thanks in advance.

Why doesn't your vet excise them or biopsy them, since they are so persistent?

Sorry but those don't come back as normal on a biopsy. Get a copy of the histopath form. If the biopsy is normal they missed the lesion.

Thought I would update everyone. Our clinic has three vets and not disparaging anyone but one is definitely more laid back and used to seeing hunting dogs etc... He is a great resource when dealing with hunting injuries etc.... Back can be a little too laid back at times. Saw the other vets and they scheduled surgery immediately. Identified a couple different bacteria that the antibiotic he gave us wouldn't touch. Had to remove dead tissue etc...but dog is healing up and should be good to go in week. Thanks everyone!
