Alternative Bedding

Wanted some input/ideas on alternative bedding for barrels. I have always used straw in the past but with the new kennel and drainage trough, the straw that is consequently pulled out with dogs going in and out finds its way in the trough causing a little extra work. I was hoping there was something out there other than anything like straw or chips that would A). stay in the barrel better and B.) not collect moisture as much. The bedding in my kennels is primarily used in the winter time for warmth and removed in spring and summer months and all barrels have drainage holes on the bottom. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
