What is your favorite pointing breed?
Post your favorite breed and why you prefer it. Also any stories of how you got into your breed would be great.

To all the Brittany people. I was talking for people to post their favorite hunting breeds, which means they have to hunt, Brittany's just don't qualify! Didn't you know that all pointing dogs keep all their instincts in the top half of their tail?
Just kidding, I truly meant to enter them, but it was late and I was tired. Really very sorry. I'd add it now, but then the rest of the Brittany people would select it and there wouldn't be a true reading.
Sorry,

I guess that explains your post about tail docking and only wanting long tailed dogs. Good thing there are quite a few of us around that know how good of a pointing dog the brittany really is!!
I guess the other good thing you need to know is that the brittany actually has a brain to store their required information about hunting and pointing and such and doesn't need to store what they know in the top half of their tail!!

With out a long explanation as to why one breed would be your favorite, it means nothing to just vote in a poll. So I pretty much agree that the dog that finds birds and points is my favorite and I have found those in every breed.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Re: What is your favorite pointing breed?
At this time I have to say My Britts have been my favorite I have hunted over alot of dogs and they definately had a ton of drive and seemed to exist to please me. I let a freind talk me into my current project a Eng. Pointer and at 6 mo he has a ton of "bird drive" my challenge with him is controll he definately has the instinct to hunt I just need to mold it so he hunts for me, I think by the time he is 1 he is going to be trully amazing and I may have to change my mind but right now I miss My laid back Britts I had 20 years ago they where amazing hunters and companions.

Re: What is your favorite pointing breed?
I also picked other because apparently the Brittany didn't make the POINTING dog list.

I voted GWP but I'm a big fan of all the wirehaireds.
