Do you buy Christmas presents for your dog(s)?

Post by Colleen » Thu Dec 23, 2004 1:21 am

OK, I'll start. Fletcher is getting a jumbo Greenie and a braided rawhide. Biscuit is getting a jumbo Greenie and some little porkhide rolly thingies. Plus something from my parents. And they got my parents' dog a Yorkie-sized Kong and some cookies.

I do some years and some years I don't. This year I did...kong toys, squeaky toys. The kids have a Santa secret shoppe at school every year, and they never forget to get them something from there. :D

Yeah, pets have always been part of the family and we've always been a Santa and not a Scrooge to 'em, ever since I was growing up and we just had a couple cats.

Only thing is, we don't get them presents, just a big stocking. We've gotten Justus a peppermint flavored cornstarch bone (candycane) and a meaty marrow-bone (like a Jumbone) so far, as well as three rawhide braid rings to keep him satisfied over the holiday-visiting-frenzy. My parents and parents-in-law got their "grand-dog" presents though, and not just a stocking.

Cassi is getting some jumbo tennis balls, and sharing some new toys and Greenies with her visiting cousins. Christmas is ongoing for her anyway! No, she's not very spoiled...

The cats get new toys some years; some years they get "recycled." (That's when you find the 35 toys under the couch and refrigerator...)

All of our dogs get Christmas presents...all nine of them, wrapped and under the tree....they all open their own on Christmas morning, too. This year we had 3 rescue dogs along with our nine and they had their own presents, too. It's as much fun for us to watch as it is for them...I think they have more fun ripping off the paper and bows than actually getting the gifts! Usually Kongs and rawhide chewies....my Mom sends them gifts also and knits 1 or 2 of them sweaters...they wear them long enough for pics for Gramma

I think it's funny how all year my wife refers to the dog as "YOUR DOG!' But at Christmas she's always the one who gets "the puppy" about a half dozen toys or treats...  8)

Yep......so far he is getting two new collars, a few chew toys, and a new crate that will fit him better now that he has grown alot. I'm sure I'll pick up some new treats and probably whatever else catches my eye between now and Christmas. How could you not get some things for your best friend for Christmas when he will give you so much in return all year long?

The wife always gets them some chew toys or something. This year I joined in and got Jo a new TT Classic 70 (ok so it's a little for me too)

My dog is my child...of course she gets presents.

Good poll! I secretly wondered how many upland dogs get spoiled like mine. You can count me as a "YEA" vote in the birthday present poll as well.

Yep. They don't get "Presents" per say, but they have stockings full of treats. Rawhide bones, Snausage type treats, Pig Snouts, Dried Cow Esophagus, etc... Depends what kind of "Goodies" the feed store is pedeling at the time.
