flea and tick poll

which flea and tick prevention do you use and why?

I use a product called Sentinel, it is a monthly heart worm, wormer, and also stops fleas eggs from being fertile. So they can have fleas, they just can't propagate very well, so far I haven't found any fleas on them and it is a nice easy, once a month deal.

Fronline Plus. Very safe, can use at 8 weeks, and works great on ticks, which are a much bigger problem for us!

TICK WARNING...I hate it when people forward bogus warnings, and I have even done it myself a couple times unintentionally...but this one is real, and it's important.

If someone comes to your front door saying they are checking for ticks due to the warm weather and asks you to take your clothes off and dance around with your arms up, DO NOT DO IT!! THIS IS A SCAM!! They only want to see you naked.

I wish I'd gotten this yesterday. I feel so stupid.

Oh, by the way...Frontline...

Frontline Plus.

And after a weekend of sporting clays and plinking with the .223 at my grandpa's homemade rifle range, I found 7 ticks on me and my clothes. One bit me. Little bugger.

I use K9Advantix....the main discriminator for me was that Advantix repels and kills mosquitos as well as fleas & ticks. Since I also use heartworm preventative, this seems like a good extra layer of protection. I buy it from DrsFosterandSmith.com...seems about as cheap as anyone.

Been using BioSpot and haven't had any problems. I'm real happy with it. I get it at Orscheln's I think 16.99 for 3 month dose for heavy dogs.

I must be the oddball... imagine that.
We use Hartz Ultraguard.
Kills and repels both Fleas and Ticks.
Kills Mosquitoes.
Kills and prevents Flea eggs.
Been using it for 3 years now and as long as we keep on a timely schedule and don't apply it late, we never have a problem with any of the nasties. The few times we've had Ticks on the pups were when we were late applying it.

We use Hartz. So far, never had a problem. Oh, and if you check out the picture on the front, its a Brittany. How can I not buy it?

And, gar-dog, I was just wondering if you wanted to buy some pictures?

I tried Biospot on my Tania some time ago and had a yellow streak down her back for about 2 months. It worked okay, but that yellow streak just didn't work for me.
