Gun Dog Forum

A friend of mine is considering getting a pointing dog. The vast majority of hunting will be on California and Mountain Quail. Hunting will likely only ever be on foot. I think he favors the Brittany right now because of it's size and that he has heard it may be more biddable compared to a few other breeds. His family has had multiple German Shorthairs, so I think he wants to try something different.

Of course we understand there are a lot of good dogs from many breeds and to remember the importance of good breeding.

I am just curious to hear what you all at GDF use for Quail. If I haven't listed a breed let us know about it below.
