I would say ruffed is probably considered one of the better eating birds out there. I enjoy them very much.

I am one of the weird guys that really like eating sharptail. They are my favorites to pursue and to dine on.

I enjoy eating early-season sharpies, but for some reason, later in the year they become less palatable. Anyone else ever notice that? I took a limit in late December and the rest of my family wouldn't eat them.

I've never hunted ruffed, but ate quite a few at a bear hunting camp in Canada a few years back, and found them to be delicious.
