It's a big book full of information.

Also plenty of photo's of dogs from different countries, chapter on coat colour genetics, chapter on history of the breed.

For someone truly interested in the DK/GSP, and in my opinion anyone who breeds any breed of dog should study all they can about their chosen breed, this book is a must have.

I have not read it myself but looked at some sample pages.

It showed VERY detailed information about the breed.

But if you are not planning to ever get into breeding, would you recommend it ?

Thanks :)

HAve it here as well.

Very informative on the origination of the breed in several countries. If you wanted to buy one book on the DK/GSP this one is probably the most accurate.

It also covers a wide variety of information including breeding ,gentics, etc.

It is hard to find and quite costly......We heard a rumor that that it was going to be reprinted in softcover....dont know where they are on that yet!

I read somewhere it is out in soft cover now.

Could be an idea to try Albiris or Amazon books see if it is
obtainable cheaper 2nd hand.

Look in my orig. post at the top of the page and you will find a link to the authors website, if interested you could order the book there.

I haven't tried finding the lowest price yet because I wanted to gather opinions before spending that much money on a book when I've read so many already that have a lot of the same info. repeated over and over.

Too many times I've sat there reading a book about GSP's and think to myself, haven't I already read this in another book ?

I read parts of the book at a friends house (the hardcover), then ordered one myself, which will be the softcover I guess. The parts I read were very well done. There were a ton of great color pictures. It was a very thorough explanation of the history of the breed, as well as the genetics.
