Never personally seen or handled one. That said it appears to be a pretty nice looking gun thats built in Italy.

The disadvantages I see are the weight, these are no light weight over unders. Lastly, who in the world would want a fiberoptic front sight on an over/under?

The MSRP of close to $1600 seems a bit steep for a gun that I don't know much about. If I didn't mind the weight of the gun and was looking in that price range I'd seriously look at a Ruger OU, well made here in the US and have a pretty proven track record.

I need to be more precise, I meant to ask about the Stevens 512 Gold Wing, thought it was a Savage, just under their umbrella i guess.

I handled the Savage Stevens Gold Wing (made in Turkey)in "bleep"'s the other day. . . the bird on the side actually sticks out from the side. I was not impressed and I would compare it to the Mossberg Silver Reserve as far as wood, looks, etc.

Now, the Savage Milano. . .that is the new importer of the Verona line, which I love, made by F.A.I.R. (one of the Rizzini family). The 28 gauge is one of the nicest hunting 28s on the market. I have a 12/20/28 gauge in the Verona line, great guns, the 12 is listed at 7.5 lbs, but the scale on mine shows 7.1 lbs.

If you are looking in the price range of the Gold Wing, I would try to find a Verona. . .should be able to find one for $500-$700.

As far as the fiber-optice sight of the Milano. . .Browning and Berettta are putting them on a few of there hunting shotguns as well. . .my Mossberg autos have them and I shoot them well, maybe there is something to it?

Thanks,
I will look into the milano(verona) and see how it feels I am looking for an affordable 20 ga. o/u field gun.
