CZ Shotguns

Post by twicebarrel » Thu Oct 26, 2006 5:35 pm

:?: I am awaiting my FFL and planning to represent CZ shotguns. I am interested in knowing what models and configurations you would be interested in if you were in the market. I want to "floorplan" a number of guns so I can have what you would be looking for. Your responses will be appreciated.

Alice the President of CZ-USA is a good friend of mine. We have several of the O/U and SxS, single and double triggers. We have shot many different brands of shotguns and rifles in the past, We feel that these firearms that CZ is representing are some of the finest at a decent price.

That being said, We favor the Bobwhite, Woodcock and the Ringneck in the shotguns. We have .28 ga, .20 ga. 16 ga. in these. In the rifles we have the CZ 452 Varmint .17 HMR and CZ 527 American .204 Ruger. Both of these rifles drive nails!

If you go to the CZ-USA website, You'll see one of our posters on here. WildRose and some of those great German Shorthaired Pointers!

Alice & Robin are coming down next weekend for a few days and I am sure Alice is going to bring something fun for Us to shoot! :D

Another Wonderful Day in Texas!

I picked up a Bobwhite at Gander Mountain and was very impressed with the offering. I'd probably like the Ringneck better in a SxS, and the Woodcock for their O/U offering. Just my preferences.

I really like the case coloring even though I didn't think I would. The website doesn't do it justice.

Ayres, What gauge did you get? We have a Bobwhite SxS in .28 ga., this one is CR's favortie. He has killed Bobwhites to Ducks to Sharpies with this sweet shotgun. The case harded color is awesome and so is the Walnut sock.

I'll tell you this Ive been saveing up for a CZ wood cock in 12 guage and the dang store (Sportsmens where house keeps raiseing the price on them before I can get one. A few months ago they were 649.00 now they are 1000.00 This is crap. IMHO the greatest thing about this gun was it was affordable for the commen man. Im buying a spartan by remington now. Im not spending that kind of money on a gun from greedy people. They are getting up there with all the other greedy gun makers And I ticks me off. Im tired of never being able to get what I want due to money. As if gas prices arent high enough GEERRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrr!! Sorry just needed to vent. The guy at sportsmens said they were going up another 100 bucks in a week. that will put them right up there with the others in the price department.

I just got a CZ Bobwhite about a month ago at Sportsman's for $589.00. It is a fine handling shotgun but it's sure butt ugly. At first the triggers were scraping on metal and I could barely pull the left one. I put grease in it, shot a few boxes of shells through it, and now I love it. The 28" bobwhite is the exact wt. (20ga) that my ruger GL is. I don't think there's a better gun out there for the money if you can get past the looks. I can.

I bought a CZ Ringneck 20ga. last Oct. for $750 at Sportsmans. This is my first side by side and I really like it. I have looked at others in this price range and higher and the quality just did not seem as good. I suggest you look around and I bet you can find one for a reasonable price.

Friend Stump, I don't like something getting priced out of my range any more than you do, but that's called "Free Enterprise".

Best,

Yea I hear ya but its also one of the reasons our sport is going down the tubes and hunter recruitment is so low. I think sportsmen need to start to take some sort of stand against getting screwed on everything from gear to guns.

Why is it getting screwed when you are asked to pay what other people think the gun is worth?

In the last 50 years, we have lost quite a few American manufacturers of good shotguns. We are down to just a handful, and frankly, none of them make very good quality firearms, they make mass market firearms. The profit margins are pretty thin as it is. And, of course, you buy a good gun, take care of it, you will not need another for a lifetime. The only gun you will ever wear out is a target gun that gets 30-50,000 rounds cycled through it every year.

I make shotgun purchase choices based on quality, and whether I want to be shooting that thing for the next 30 years. I am over 30 years with a couple of them, they are still ticking, the birds still fall.

So if I paid $1000 for that Beretta O/U in 1982, that is $40 bucks a year, and right now I could still sell the thing for $1000 at least.

That is the math, if you need to do math with shotgun purchases.

You could try a De Haan. They (CZ and De Haan) are both made by Huglu. The prices may be a little better on a De Haan. I don't have one but I'm saving my pennies to get one. There some warranty differences but there are also some customer service differences as well. I've got my eye on a Bobwhite for 750 but don't have the spare cash at the moment.

If you want to blame someone for gun prices going up, it's mostly due to the Chinese driving prices up by buying up everything in sight. Metals prices have gone up 3-4x over the last few years.

CZ makes excellent firearms. I have a CZ 452 in .22LR, and it shoots amazing groups with premium ammo, and does great even with bulk (cheapo) ammo. I would not hesitate to buy another CZ.
