Special request: Dave can you post a close up pic of that beautiful LC Smith? I drooled all over my keyboard when I saw it in the Grouse thread.

I know you are interesed in nice guns so I will show you one of my Prize L.C. Smith double guns, that most people usually do not get to see.

This particular Elsie is a 12 Guage, Pre 1913 Silver Breech Pigeon Grade Gun, Special Ordered by my GreatGrandfather for my Grandfathers 13th birthday, in 1902.
This gun has 30" BBLs, Double Triggers and Ejectors, both brass and Ivory sight beads and Pre production Beavertail Fore Stock, high grade French Walnut stocks Fore & Aft. The gun is lightly Silver Breeched, with standard Hunter Arms Blued Trigger Guard and Triggers. A Gold Pigeon is engraved atop the incrdible Krupp BBls, with fine breech engraved walking & flying Pigeons with spinning clays, on oppsite side locks of the gun, engraving by Kraus. This was my Grandfathers favorite Bird gun, choked IC and IM due to the slow burning powder of his era. The gun has a spacer and soft pad added, to meet my LOP needs, I have the original Elsie butt place with Setter holding a Grouse in his mouth, it was removed so I would not crack it, while bird hunting and shooting clays. There are only three of these Silver Breech Elsie Pigeon Grade guns, mine and two
that were made, for the Hunter Arms Exibition Shooter, both those guns are in my friend Walt Schiessls private collection in CA. Each of these Special Ordered Silver Breech Pigeon Grade Guns, has an estimated value of above 18 thousand dollars today.

I use this particular gun for shooting clays and Pheasant in Lancaster Pa or out in MT, my Grandfather used it even in the Grouse woods however.
Course he was almost 7' tall and carried it as most men carry their 20 guage guns with 26" BBls.

That is great that you have the gun of your Great Grandfather. That sure is a pretty gun.

I was thinking I have and old model 12 (1942) 16 ga. Winchester that I was for my Grandfather. I am thinking of bringing it out of retirement for a few hunts it was not special ordered and it didnt cost 5 figures.

Never sell the old M12 short, and by the way when that Pigeon Grade was made it only cost about $100.00, and back then that was a good deal of money.
Got more than one Elsie that was handed down thru the years, I treasure them all.

Nice job shutting down the thread! All other's must pale in comparison to your's. Here's my "pretty" gun, a Winchester 101 20 ga. Featherweight in pigion grade.
I used to think it was pretty, until I saw your's.

A hammerless Sneider that belonged to my great grandfather. While a pretty gun it is, it was used by my Great Grandfather and Grandfather to feed the family, so saw much use.

Man now thats a nice old double gun, I would refinish the stocks, have the metal cleaned up and use her as a show piece, along with hunting with her.

This is my baby. I have owned 4 Benelli shotguns and this is my favorite! It is my upland bird hunting gun and I also shoot skeet with it. I like my shotguns like I like my women. Fine, sexy, Italian.

You said pretty but didn't say what kind.This is a Flintlock Rifle I built from a custom kit in 1989.
The is an Early York Pa.School Style Flintlock Rifle in 45 cal.Has a 42 inch barrel rifled 1 turn in 66 inches for patched round balls.
This is styled from an original circa 1770-1780 I did everything but the engraving on the brass you really can't see the incise carving or the silver wire inlay with much detail.I need better pics.

Very nice, I can't believe you got wood that nice in a kit.

Nike this is a custom kit not a factory kit,the wood was $70 extra.I had about $700 in this gun when I finished it.The last time I looked the parts alone are around a $1000.The parts come from different makers & are pretty much made by hand not in a factory.

Thanks Dave, I get a great deal of pleasure chasing birds with them.
I also don't buy any guns anymore that I will not take out of the safe and into the field to use as they were intended.
