Sears Semiauto 16 gauge
A friend is telling me a friend of his is looking to sell a never fired Sears 16 gauge Semi. 1960's era?
Any ideas who might have made it?
Winchester 1400?

Re: Sears Semiauto 16 gauge
Winchester made the Ted Williams line of guns for Sears. Stevens made them before that. I have had one of each and still shoot my 20 guage Ted Williams.

Highstandard, Savage, Mossberg and maybe others made guns for Sears also. It may all depend on the exact model. Sometimes the ones with a Sears trademark will bring a little less than the ones that carry only the makers marks. Seldom do they bring more, but, it all depends on who wants it.
Re: Sears Semiauto 16 gauge
You are right that the differnt manufactures made guns for them but each made a certain gun or line of guns. Savage and High Standard made rifles if I remember right. But I don't think they interchanged on the same guns.Oldfarmer wrote:Highstandard, Savage, Mossberg and maybe others made guns for Sears also. It may all depend on the exact model. Did you try looking it up in one of the Blue Books of Gun Values?

McBosco,
I have no idea whaat the guns are worth. I am sure the earlier Stevens aare pretty low but the Ted Williams guns might have a fair value. Many of those guns have the poli-choke on them which probably hurts their resale value today.

High Standard made several different shotguns for Sears, as did Winchester, Mossberg and others. At least in later years some were imports too. Most had a Sears name also, either Ted Williams or J. C. Higgins, and some just Sears or Sears and Roebuck. Same with rifles, some were even pre 64 Winchester model 70s, with a Sears name.
