I'm thinking about buying a Stevens 512 Gold Wing in 20 ga. Does anyone have one and what are your thoughts about it

i know its made in Turkey.

I just bought a CZ which is also made in Turkey, Huglu. They seem to be good values at a fraction of a browning, franchi or beretta. Time will tell with mine but for the money there wasn't a lot of dowside. 50% shot that Stevens is made by Huglu as well.

If you live near Academy the Turkish guns there are apparantly quite a deal.

Yes they are MC. The Yildiz are really nice. Stevens 512's are made in Turkey for Savage Arms. They equate nicely to the Yildiz and CZ's. I have not owned one but have heard they compare well to the 2 aforementioned guns. The CZ for around $600, the Stevens for around $500, or the Yildiz for around $400.

I bought one in 20 ga. and after about 100 or so rounds it got to where it would not transfer
from under to over (if you had it set to fire under first you had a single shot) the trigger would just pull but not fire. I took it back to the store and they gave me another one and
after about another 100 rounds it did the same thing but this time the second barrel (top
barrel) would either not fire at all and on 2 occasions it hung fired after about a second, if
it will hang fire for a second it could do it for 5 or more seconds. These were new out of
the box guns. But I have a friend who has one in 12 ga. and loves it so far as the last time
I talked to him, and has had no problems with it. These guns were great shooting guns
while they worked right.

A friend that posts here has a CZ in 12 and a 20. Both have wood splitting. Wood to metal fit issues maybe. I've shot the 20, though, and it's not a clunker in the hands.

If you are interested in a turkish 20 ga check out the prices of the CZ Canvasback at CDNN. You must download the catalog to see what they offer. I personally bought the weatherby orion in 20 from them made by SKB, more money but a higher quality gun.
