any thoughts on this gun, saw one today, its been around a long time and is pretty darn light, I can get one for about $650 and $750 for the fancy walnut version.

it also comes in a short stock that seems perfect for a 13 year old.

While I shoot a couple of Benelli Montefeltro's ( like the simplicity of these guns), have always been intrigued with the 48 al. Have heard good things and at those price's would go for one. Think it would be an exellent choice for a 13 year old ( gosh..about 5.5 lbs..Could carry all day with no problem) .My comments are based on "hear say" evidence...So hope someone responds with some first hand experience.

I had one and sold it to a relative. The only light loads that cycle through it are the Federal game loads from Wal Mart. Haven't had a problem cycling heavy loads of any brand. Being that light and not having a gas system, I thought it kicked quite a bit more than my Beretta 391. It shot pretty well though, and my cousin is a small frame shooter and seems to like it.

I have one in the youth model (20 gauge) that my son started with and now my daughter is shooting. If you pull out one of the spring spacers it will even cycle the Winchester low recoil loads. Just remember to put it back in if you step back up to the heavy loads. Has been a great gun so far.

mcbosco,

If you don't have your safe already make sure you get one that'll hold at least 50 guns or plan in advance to have the space for several smaller safes 'cause I can tell you're going to need the capacity. :D
