question: If you were looking for a used Ithaca pump, what models and years would you look for?

I recently bought a prewar 16 gauge. It is a joy to carry and solid as a rock but on this vintage you cannot change barrels without getting them fitted by a gunsmith and the trigger is a little heavier than I would like. You will like the price a lot better than a model 12 of the same time frame.

I think you should buy 2 and send one to me. They make some gorgeous guns. I bought a single shot 20 guage this year for 50 bucks. I love shooting that thing.

You need to look at anything made before 1975.... They are bringing ~$100.00 more than they were this time last year...
The great thing about the guns is the light weight....I just purchased a pre war 12 gauge, to go with my others

i got an email topday from a guy with a "nearly new" Model 37, 12 gauge, 30" barrell, $225....Seriel Number is 961118, looks like it was made in 1966. was cleaning out his uncles house and found it in the attic.

I am sure that it has a full choke with a 30" barrel but I think that is a good price. I paid $250 at an estate auction for my 16.

the ithaca gunsmith i referenced above has a 1964 model 37 with two barrels that are original to the model. i suppose the were sold as a set, a 12 gauge and slug barrel.
it is his personal gun and he wants $600 for it, he claims it has only been shot a few times.

I would think you could do a little better than that. I don't know what you plan on using the gun for, but keep in mind that guns of that age typically have a fixed choke unless someone has had screw in tubes added or put a polychoke on it. If you are serious deer hunter and have to use a shotgun then you would probably want a rifled slug barrel and some type of scope.
