They are a great gun but heavy. I took one in on trade a few years ago and it still is as good as new. browning has always been a nice gun and from what I hear got better when they started making them in Japan.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

I got mine 4 years ago for $500in excellent condition. Are you sure 1500 isn't too high?

look on Gunbroker for some comparisons in condition, price and factor in $50 for shipping/transfer fee.

No way for 1500, unless it is new in the box. Like the others look at gunbroker 800 is probably max. In the last year my brother has bought two 12 A5's for 700, good condition.
Also remember that gun cannot shoot steel with its barrell
There are several out there

I got my A5 Light Twelve for under $800, though that was about 4 years ago. I know in recent months the Light Twenty has gained immensely in popularity, probably being more desirable than the Sweet Sixteen (who'd have thought 5 years ago that would happen?), but I think $1500 is still too high. I can see a nice one going for $1000, but not half that more.

Also, there is a certain timeframe when the A5's were built with wood that was dried using a salt treatment method, that later proved to be very undesirable because the salt treated wood can cause corrosion. Many of these guns were refitted with new stocks and forearms to solve the problem, but that means a gun without true "original" parts. Check shotgunworld.com and get a quick education on the A5 before jumping in - all of that information is over there.

If it is a Light 20 ga, with V-Rib and Modified Choke and is in perfect condition it maybe worth $1,200 in some parts.

The V-Rib and Modified Choke does add to the value. Try to find and price just the barrel...............

If I was and A-5 guy and I am and didn't have this shotgun as I have described I would pay $1,200 for it.

Is there a better Autoloader? No!

Can you buy a modern Autoloader with the same features? No!

Can you buy a quality modern Autoloader for $1,200? Yes!

hum- I've got a Berretta AL2 20 that I bought for $167.00 new from the Gun Shop in 1973- I bought the Browning Invector Special Steel barrel, screw in chokes, vent rib, so I could shoot 3"- that was 15 years ago- it's been a sweet gun- my brother has had his A5 as long as I've had this - he's had more problems with different loads- I don't have to worry about moisture- his is heavy- mine is light
