What can you tell me about the Franchi Renaissance Shotgun?

I have been researching them a bit and was able to handle a 12 guage today. It was very light, but I am thinking about a 20 guage. It is supposed to be about 5lb 9oz. What do you know? Also, the wood was pretty good for a $1199 shotgun. Is this the going price?

Its a fantastic Gun. Especially for the money. If you are worried about it being too light just shoot 1oz loads through it. Thats what I use.

Here's a link to the "I love my Franchi" forum on Shot Gun World.
You might already know about this site but anyway...

Not worried about it being too light. Thought it would be great in the field. Thanks for the info.

It's the successor to the Franchi Veloce (20 ga.). I've got a Veloce, and I love it. Lightweight, swings fast but fluid. And a good looking gun to boot!
I didn't know the Renaissance had dropped in price to $1200, but I think there are different grades.

1200 was for the field grade.

$1200 sounds about right. I bought the Alcione new in field grade after it was discontinued for around $900. It was about $1100 at regular price. You can go to gunbroker.com and look up what they are bringing. I love my Alcione for hunting over dogs. Mine has the 26" barrells and is a little short and light for pass shooting doves. I had a used Veloce located for a little over $900, but it was sold when I went back to get it.

The 26" guns seem a bit light to me when I've hoisted them, I like that for grouse/woodcock work at times but find it handicaps me on pheasants and prairie grouse. And I need all the help I can get. I might look at a 28" barrel set up if they are available, that will still be a relatively short, light gun.

I'll have to second this.....haven't shot the Renaissance, but the Veloce is a great gun and I would suspect the Renaissance to follow suit...
