beretta ultralight
Wondering if anyone has shot or owns an ultralight. Im a little curious about the recoil on the 12 ga model. That gun only weighs 6lb. Seems to me that would be nice to carry in the field on those all day hunts. the websight shows gel recoil pads for those guns. Should I think about investing in one. I don't plan on shooting to many clays, only enough to get ready for the ohio bird season. Been looking at alot of guns in the local shop trying to find the right one. When I sholdered the ultralight I fell in love. I'ts amazing how fast you can get it into position. hopefully I will be killing birds with one next season.

i have the 686 onyx 20ga... super light.
dont feel any recoil shooting high brass...
then again i worry about hitting the bird then worrying about how bad it will hurt.

I don'tremember ever feeling the recoil when hunting. But some guns sure kick when sighting them in. Hard to believe you don't notice it in the field.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

I've got a couple of friends with the Ultralight, and have been able to shoot one of those guns a bit. The one I shot just had the plastic buttplate on it.
For normal hunting you'll be fine as long as you use some common sense. If you throw the hotest pheasant load like a Fiochhi Golden Pheasant and go ona half-day 20 bird gamefarm hunt, you're going to get kicked around a bit. Go shoot a couple rounds of sporting clays and shoot a pigeon or handicap load and you're going to get kicked around a bit.
Shoot loads appropriate to the gun and the game and you'll be fine. Start shooting loads in a 6lb gun that are better suited for a 7.5lb auto or a 8lb O/U clays gun and it won't be too much fun.

I bought my Dad one awhile ago, after he passed on I was given it back, I cant shoot it as I follow thru way past the bird. Gave it to my brother he hits em every time, he doesnt notice any difference using it.
Cousin uses a lightweight 20 ga as it is very light.
