Which O/U

Looking for a nice o/u for 1-3k. Must come in 26in barrel and be lightweight, will be used for upland hunting. Looked at the Ruger Red label, Browing White Lightining, Beretta Ultralight, and Franchi Alcione but not sure if their are any others to consider.

Shoulder them all, go with the one that fits you the best. The assistance of an experienced gun fitter is invaluable. I quickly came to see why I was never consistent w/ the Citori I used to own, but can shoot my 686 w/ my eyes closed.

Stay with one of the "B" guns. Find one one that fits you best. Buy a gun with a longer barrel than 26". WDO

You do not have to stay with one of the "B" guns. I am soo tired of people saying that if you dont have one of the "B" guns you dont have a good one. If you are looking at spending up to 3k you have far moe options. Look into Caesar Guerini, Cortona, Franchi, and Winchester as well as anything else you come across within your price range. Those are all fantastic guns and you may find that you like one of those far more than one of the others and that is the one you should go with. For example, I hate Browning shotguns. They are good guns but they do not fit me well at all. On the other hand, I love the Franchi Renaissance and would shoot it over some much more expensive guns because it fits me so well and I shoot it so well.

Beside's weight, barrel length and fit, think about parts and repair availability and resale value.

Give me a break. You can get parts for any of the guns I listed. I am so tired of hearing about the B guns. They are good guns but you really need to broaden your horizons. Unless you go with a very very rare and uncommon gun you can get parts for most any gun you can buy. Even if you need to contact the manufacturer to get them. Most importantly try as many guns as possible in your price range and go with the one that fits you best. Regardless of whether the name starts with a B, an F, an R , a W or whatever. Dont limit yourself because the "cool" thing to shoot is a B gun.

You didn't mention what you would be shooting or where. I have a Belgian Browning Lightning Field Grade 20 gauge that I really like and a 12 gauge as well. The 20 meets the light specification, but the 12 does not.

I made a fortuitous buy on Gunbroker on a Caesar Guerini 28 gauge that I absolutely love. I prefer it to any of the "B" guns.

Most important thing is the one that fits you
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
"When I hear somebody talk about a horse or cow being stupid, I figure its a sure sign that the animal has outfoxed them." Tom Dorrance

Been shouldering different guns at Cabelas. Just looking for other manufactures to checkout. Most hunting will be for pheasant and some quail.

You may want to take a look at a Rizzini. They are practically heat seeking.

I bought a new O/U last fall. I was shopping around for while, and found a 16 gauge Browning Citori 525 Field with 28" barrels. I have a weakness for 16's so I bought it.

If I hadn't bought the Browning, I was seriously considering a Franchi Renaissance in 20 gauge.

Unless I missed it, I don't think you indicated what gauge you were looking for. I'd say if you have the opportunity to buy a 16 gauge, then get it.

This is where I got mine: http://www.browningguncenter.com/Specials.shtml

There are LOTS of very good guns out there available for $3,000 or less, so don't let someone tell you what you should or shouldn't get.

The most important thing to remember with any gun is proper fit. But again, if you love it, have a good deal on it, and it's close to fitting you, you can always get a good gunsmith to fit the gun to you.

The Winchester o/us are more of a Browning than the Brownings are. The Winchesters are made at the FN plant.
