Beretta 28 gauge
I am considering buying a Beretta 686S in 28 gauge. I already own one in 12 gauge that I really like. I have been unable to locate one locally that I can hold. So, my question is does anyone know what the gun weighs. The berettausa.com site lists it at the same as my 12 gauge (6.8 lbs), but the main beretta site (beretta.com) lists it at 5.3 lbs. Does anyone own this gun, which weight it correct?

pear,
Thanks for the reply. Since you have owned both, how the the satin finish on the 687 hold up compared to the 686? My 686 with the (ugly) gloss finish has held up extremely well. I like the 687 look better, but I am afraid it won't stand up as well in the heavy grouse cover I hunt. Thanks for your help.

CS,
The edges of the rib are shiny, as the likely will be on any blued or other type finish, but the actual barrel and rib surfaces, look like new after many rounds and lots of handling. Keep them dried and well oiled and I don't think you will be displeased in the least.
As too the wood, the finish is the same type of material (polyurethane), just a difference in the actual surface gloss. I have personally found both to be the same as far being durable.... and don't forget the wood is easily refinished.... Bottom line is I like yourself prefer the matt or satin finish and I see no difference in the duribility. ..."pear"
