New Browning Citori 16ga.

Post by Will » Sun Mar 04, 2007 8:23 am

Well, I did it!! I was itching for a new shotgun..or two for the longest time and wanted another 16ga. as a versatile "do it all" upland gun. The Gander Mountain had a Remington 1100 Field Classic 16ga on sale, but its a heavy brute. "bleep" Sporting Goods has the Benelli/Franchi Diamonds but only in 12ga and 20ga. I was really wanting a nice O/U and Gander Mtn had this Citori Lightening 16ga there...and I couldn't help it!!! I figure its exactly what I wanted....nice 16ga O/U. :D So I go back and pick it up today. Time to dig out the old reloader and see what kind of supplies I need!!!

You will like that gun, I have the G VI (a big splurge a few years ago). It is pretty, but I beat it to death.

Ballistic Products has all kinds of reloading stuff for the 16 if that is what you want to do. I just use the Fiocchi Golden Pheasant, 1 1/8 oz. 5's for just about everything.

Will, do you shoot right handed? Only reason I ask is that a lot of those Browning 16's have 1/4" cast off. If you shoot right handed, no problem.

*L*...yeah I've pretty much spent my allowance for the next couple of years I suppose.....and yes...I'm waiting for a call or email...the pups should be on the ground any day now!!!

Wagonmaster...thanks for the tip. I need hulls and wads to start reloading 16ga again...some old gun shops used to carry stuff around here, but they've long since closed. That's one really bad thing about the big chain stores....our good ole boy shops can't survive.

And yes...I am right handed and I love it!!!

I found where there were 1000 of these made for 2007. I just happened into the Gander Mountain the day they put it out on the rack...what luck.

Gotta go order some reloading supplies!!!

Dewey, The place wagonmaster was referring to "Ballistic Products" has everything you will need for reloading if you go that route. I live about 6 miles from them as the crow flies. I used to get their catalog but haven't received one in some time? Look them up and get on their mailing list. they will have stuff you cannot find anywhere else, trust me.

Here is the link: http://www.ballisticproducts.com/

You won't have to worry about that pup pointing, he has the breeding behind him.

Thanks Tom....I already placed my order from Ballistic Products....There just isn't a good light load available around here for clays and quail.....I like to load up some 1oz 9 shot and spray it out there...LOL Now I just have to find some good data again for my Red Dot. I don't have any books left.

I'm excited about the breeding too...talked to Bond's owner the other day...he is getting first female from this pair...and already has a pup from Bond in a previous breeding...not sure of the dam. I guess the pup is alot like the old man...which is a great thing!!

Went out on a preserve quail hunt today with a customer...took his setters. We put 24 birds out and brought in 19...not bad. I broke in the Citori and I must say...I LOVE IT...this thing pulls up and swings so nice...and I love that "in between" range of the 16ga.

Sounds like a fine piece of Hardware and a great day of hunting.

My wife got me a Citori Feather Lightning a few years ago as a gift and I love it other than it is to light to go and shoot for fun as it kicks like a mule due to its light weight.
