Winchester 101

Looking at an ad (in the paper) for a winchester 101 12 Ga. skeet excellent condition $650.00? Can anyone that knows about this type of gun give me any information or questions I would ask to gain additional info. I would use it to quail hunt.

Thanks

My brother has my father's old 101 and you couldn't have it for that price even without the sentimental value. Look at auction prices on gunbroker or gunsamerica but I would think a 101 in decent shape would bring closer to $900. The skeet version has shorter barrels and more open fixed chokes than the trap version but if that fits your style well, it is a nice gun.

If the gun is in good condition, it's worth at least $650 and as the previous poster indicated probably much more.

A 101 in good condition at that price is a good deal. I have a 20ga and my brother-in-law has a 20 and 12. Have had them for years with no problems. The only down side that I could see is the fixed skeet choke if you wanted to use it for something other than quail. But I would not hesitate to pay that for a good condition 101.

Thanks for the replies. When I called it had already been sold.
