When you're slogging up and down hills all day, cursing the #$*(!!! grouse that keep flushing before they get in shotgun range - it's easy to overlook just how nice the scenery is.

My turn!

OK, here's a few of my pics:

Here's some cover I found birds in:

More good cover:

A fisher I ran into next to a river:

About to say goodbye to my trailer hitch socket:

Image

One of several meece I met:

Image

Here was some Hahhd Hoofin' - a log road re-cleared in the last year or so, maybe 20 years since the road was taken out of use, and prepped to get put back in service:

Image

Dog on point - now how the F&#% am I gonna get in there and flush it? No worries, grouse are self-flushers...

Image

Here's where the bird flushed and flew up into a tree just a few feet away from her - and she held point! Good dog!

Image

The bird flushed again, and this time met with 1oz of #6's from my 16 gauge, and it turns out to be a male. :D

Image

I sliced the partridge fillets into thin strips, and fried them in butter in a cast iron skillet until golden brown, with a pinch of flour, salt, pepper, and a bit of water in the pan to make a gravy. Man that's tasty!

Very nice pics! Yeah, we were pretty much working in the same type of cover - uphill or downhill, very little of it was level!
Love the pic of the moose - I'd love to see a big bull in the wild!

Ayuh, that's a biggun.

That look on their face - it's like they're daring you to come over. :)

A guy that was with us basically grew up hunting that area. His high school buddy was with him and they told stories of how, back in the day, they'd basically dare each other into a game of chicken when they saw a moose. Whoever got closer to the moose won.
I have to think that that is something only a 16 year old kid would be ballsy or stupid enough to attempt. :D

HA !
You're on this forum also.
Nice to see you had such a great hunt and an even better experience !
I'm taking a trip up that way to try my hand at some large deer.

Oh, ya gotta be sh*tting me!

Yeah, I've been here a bit more often than SFP lately - but then, running dogs isn't nearly as weather-dependent as spearfishing is!!! :)
