Best hunt yet!

I asked my daughter what she wanted to do for the day. Without reservation, she requested to go bird hunting with Dad! 8)

She picked out her favorite camouflage pants the night before, and we soon realized she had outgrown her hiking boots. Tennis shoes it is! We took a leisurely trip up to the hills with a stop for breakfast.

All told, we had a pancake, two pieces of bacon, four “I have rocks in my shoes can you help me tie them?” breaks, several can I give the dog more water stops, tons of great questions, lots of long term planning focused on her future pointer pup named “Spot”, an after hunt popsicle at the country store, a well deserved nap on the ride home, and zero birds!

By all measures, an absolutely perfect day!

Treasure those days, they are not forever. I once took my daughter dove hunting in Idaho, she wanted to see her Lab, Nipper work. I shot a bunch of dove and we went home, my little chatterbox silent most of the way. Highly unusual. She couldn't pronounce her R's yet. Finally I said to her "Did you enjoy watching Nipper work, Kate?" She was silent a moment then replied "Well, I weally liked watching Nipoo wook, but did you have to hoot the poo little boodies?" End of Kate's hunting career.

Isn't that great!
I have wonderful memories of fishing and hunting with my Dad too. One day we were fishing for trout in a small stream ; I was maybe 7. He was having no luck. I walked down the stream and managed to scoop up a beautiful trout in my quart basket. He was not impressed. LOL

Yeah, purposefully easing our way into that part of it. We had to have a small ceremony when the goldfish died.😉 Although she has been good with fishing! Preloading the pomp and circumstance for now.👍🏻

You are correct, that is the perfect day in the uplands. Enjoy the time in the field with her as the memories will last a lifetime for both of you. Well done.

You are blessed Garrison. The absolute best times I’ve had in the field were with my son.
