Spring Turkey

Post by Cicada » Fri Apr 17, 2020 5:54 pm

Was a great morning.
This one was in a flock of about 40 birds. With 5 big toms I had to wait 10 minutes for the one to step a side so I could get a clear shot at about 25 yards.

Holy smokes!!! What a nice BIG tom! Can you get another license/bird? I wish they had open season on turkeys.

No tags in BC but we are only allowed one more bird in the Sept. Bow only Bearded only then Oct 1~15 any turkey. Getting a Tom in Sept with a bow is a challenge.

Aaahh… Well, the reward is consistent with the challenge, typically. I wish you success with your bow Sir!

NJ Practically does, 1 bird per day per tag anyway. NJ has 36 zones and 5 week packages for tags, just depends how much you want to spend, 22$ per tag adds up a little bit. See what happens this week, although I am sure the take will be down with the WMA's closed.

Nice work! Is it going to fit in an oven?

Alas the spring hunt is over for me but it is a beauty day today to go play with the dogs.

That is a lot bigger than our Merrion Turkeys. I hope you did not have to carry that one uphill!

Nice! You live in a great part of the world for Walleye and many other things.

My Spring Trifecta was completed yesterday when the Wife and I found some Morels. Ate fresh Walleye for lunch and fresh grilled gobbler breast tenderloin and morels for supper. Hunting gobblers again in the morning. This social distancing is not all that bad.

Nice! I never tried Morels but we have lots here where ever a forest fire has burned the year before. Pickers sell them for about $15/lb.

Enjoy the feast
