Taking migratory birds with leg bands.

What should one do if one takes a dove with a leg band?

Is there somebody I am supposed to tell about it?

How many game bird species are leg-banded in America?

Who bands them?

There is an online site for reporting them. www.reportband.gov. You'll need the number and when and where the band was recovered. They will send you a certificate that will tell you when, where and who banded the bird. I've shot a lot of doves but never a banded one. Lots of ducks and geese though.
