Advantages and disadvantages.

Also which do you prefer?

I have tried avery and mud river. The shape of a GSP isnt really ideal for a vest. The medium fits his chest but not neck or body. Small fits body and neck but nearly takes his breath.

CAn't really see the fit from here. Usually they'd be in the dob box but was was 28 the morning and we went from the duck blind to the dove field.

Get a benign color and camo it with dye.

I have two vests for my French Brittany. I have a 3mm Banded Neoprene Vest in size small and a Cabelas 5mm Neoprene Floatation vest with chest armor in size Medium. Both fit him in the neck and chest really well with his belly being too slim for both. If you measure the diameter of your dogs belly and take the vest to a seemstress, they can cut and redew it pretty quickly. Costs $10-$15 bucks. I really like both vests. Cabelas has a few of theirs on sale right now.

No real disadvantages. They're a necessity in the cold especially if doing any water work. As for fit, you'll be hard pressed to find a vest that fits perfectly. You will have to trim to fit.

I have a banded vest that now fits pretty well. An Avery that's too big in the stomach area. And I just took the mud river in to a seamstress and they sewed it down to fit him better. It seems to be a lot more comfortable on the dog as well
