Well it's almost November and it's hot, dry and still lots of leaves. Grouse season is open and I've been a few times and moved a few birds. Just wandering if anyone else has been after them.....

Hey no worries about rubbing it in. If I had a cabin in Michigan that's where I would be. I never did hunt there but I drove over that way so I could see where it was. If the weather ever changes around here in gonna check it out. That's rugged country over there.

There will reach a time to stop hunting ruffed grouse in the central and southern Appalachians.
There can often solid be tradeoffs to fires in the central and southern Appalachians.
There are never enough friends of the National Forests in the central and southern Appalachians.

Yes fires are good for a forest but the fires that are going on right now are hard to combat and in a fire that's good for wildlife there needs to be some things left..... These fires aren't leaving anything.... It's gonna get worse before it gets better

Wait a few years and one will find much...is left and much....will be better.
A decade or so is often difficult for folks waiting....understandable.
Controlled burns...can be most a photo op.
Just depends upon the individual particulars.

Dog is at the trainer, I went once (opening day) with my cousin and his pup. The conditions were way less than desirable and no birds moved. Yes these wildfires will help in time but we desperately need rain. Was in gatlingburg this weekend (not hunting) and there are still a ton of leaves on. Seems to be way more than usual. Hopefully I will get to hunt when the dog gets back.
