Harlon lake Nebraska pheasant

On a whim, the family and I drove up here from Texas yesterday. A friend of mine back in Texas grew up around here and said it used to be good so we decided to try it out.
Spent all day out and saw one pheasant flush way out ahead of us. Any tips for the area?
I've got a three year old bird dog and we just haven't been able to put a good hunt together yet. Either he can't find birds (I kid) or I'm terrible at picking places to go.

Also we're mobile and don't have to be home until Sunday if you have other ideas.
