Should have had a elk tag

Post by fishvik » Sat Sep 26, 2015 9:40 am

Yesterday was the last day of Idaho's sagehen season. I shot my one bird, missed two and the dogs pointed or flushed 12 others. But on the way out I saw a herd of 55 elk just above a beaver complex. I don't think I've ever seen that many elk in a group this early in the season. One six point bull.

One of my son's friends drew a big bull multi weapon tag and wasn't having any luck. So my son had him come over to our part of the state. He had spotted some 5 miles from the house in the sage. Really early for them to be down here.

There was a 6x7 back scratcher monster that is still up there

I think it has to do with temperature. It was 90+ degrees when I left the field yesterday.
