South texas quail hunt

Post by tobytx » Wed Jan 07, 2015 3:42 pm

So me and the dog went to hunt public land Friday and Saturday and after several years of going and not getting any birds, we finally got some. Saw about 7 covies on Friday in a half day and about three on Saturday. Only was able to bag a couple due to my shooting . Cover was really good and you can tell they have been getting some good rain. Below is a video I did from my cell phone of my dog trying to find some singles that broke off of a covy.

Looks like a beautiful area. Do you ever get into the chachalaca's on the Chaparral?

Looks like a good time! I'll be down there at the end of the month and am looking forward to it. Feel free to send me a PM and maybe we can meet up!
A dog on point.....steady, yet trembling,
Breathing in and tasting the gentle breeze.
Take a moment for yourself to soak it all in,
All the training, the hard work.....it really has paid off.
