I was just wondering if anyone has been in South Dakota chasing pheasants lately? We are heading back Thanksgiving morning to hunt for 4 days, and was just curious how much snow is on the ground, and also wondering if they got most all of the corn off before the snow came? Thanks for any feedback!!

Most of the corn is out. Snow depth varies by region but probably isn't deep enough anywhere to preclude hunting. Temps this weekend are forecast in the forties, back down into the 30's next week. Should be pretty good hunting conditions.

We were out in North central SD last week & it was brutal, single digits & 40+ mph winds. Anywhere from a trace of snow to 2'-3' drifts. The good thing was once you found 1 bird, you found 100. Sloughs, shelterbelts, & plum thickets all held birds. Nary a track in the grasses. Good luck!

We are driving back to Mississippi from South Dakota today.
Found plenty of birds. Hunt the sloughs, and the shelter belts close to cut corn. It was very cold and snow but the birds held tight which led to great pointer work.
