ohio public land
Has anyone had any luck hunting birds around ironton and Portsmouth ohio on public land?

Lately?...no, with habitat loss and change not being the only reasons for the no.
The ice storm area offers some possibility for ruffed grouse.
Ohio does cut a small bit of timber and the paper mill still needs fed.
I expect that the Wayne continues to carry an ES % of less than 3....so, tough go there.
Wild quail can be where you find them....little to depend upon in that quarter.
Wild pheasants exist but they are on Private for the most part.
Crows may be your best bet....knowing Ohio's birdhunting history...ain't that a kick in the head?
