Deutscher Wachtelhund
Does anyone have any experience owning/training or hunting over this breed? I am considering getting one. If you have any information on this breed please share it.

Re: Deutscher Wachtelhund
I have hunted with one. Their primary use has been for big game, tracking and some retrieving.

Re: Deutscher Wachtelhund
What were you hunting when you hunted with this dog?
Deutscher Wachtelhund
Wachtel means quail in German, Just FYI. Hunt with German Dogs. Not those though. Do you have a pic? Loose translation German Quail Dog. Is it the German name of a pointer GSP, GWP? Or different dog?
Deutscher Wachtelhund
Just googled this breed. Another dog I had never heard of that is pretty cool. German Spaniel (quail dog). Said it was used on all sorts of game though. Fur or feather and takes to the water like a fish. Seems rare. How do you find em?

There isn't a ton of information out there. I've spoken with Dave Pepe out of Wisconsin who seems to a good contact for information on the breed. I posted a link below for the kennels recognized by the breed club.

Re: Deutscher Wachtelhund
I know someone who bird hunts with one up in Montana. He uses the flusher in areas such as cattail sloughs where he feels it is more effective than his pointing dogs. Says it is a terrific recovery and retrieving dog. The dog is good looking with a thick, brown coat and was friendly when I met it.

The second kick from a mule is of very little educational value - from Wing and Shot.

Deutscher Wachtelhund
There is a guy in Somerset KY and his pups go for 600 or alittle higher
Go Irish or Go Home, Take a child hunting and you will never have to hunt for him!
Re: Deutscher Wachtelhund
Give Dave Black a call. He's got a litter on the way and the parents are terrific dogs. 1-920-980-6469.
These are hunting dogs for hunting homes. Dave is a great guy, give him a call if your interested in one of his pups. I almost got one from him last year but unfortunately a deployment to Afghanistan got in the way.
Good luck!
