Good start in Idaho
Went out Friday for the forest grouse opener and got two blues with one shot. I went out on Sunday for the dove opener and got a limit with less than a box of shells. Yesterday I went out again for doves and got another limit with only 15 shells. I think I'll just hang it up now, before I wake up and find out it was only a dream. Doves seem to be plentiful this year close to water or between water and fields. All my doves craws were filled with wheat and wild sunflower seeds. The grouse are also sticking close to water and are feeding primarily on forbs and grasshoppers.

Very nice. We went out opening morning for dove and limited out in 35 minutes but lets not talk about how many shells it took
. Were the blues up real high?

I think the reason for the low shell count was the doves were only coming in to water 1 or 2 at a time so I didn't get distracted at which target to shoot at. As for the grouse they were down in the willows along the creeks. Water is the drawing factor over here. This part of Idaho is about 3 inches below normal precip for the year. That is about 33%. Now Pocatello about 100 miles south of where I was hunting is building an ark and collecting animals two by two. In the last 11 days they have had two storms where they got between 2-6 inches of rain within a couple hours. Idaho Falls has gotten some rain the last two days but nothing like areas farther south.2dogs wrote:We went out opening morning for dove and limited out in 35 minutes but lets not talk about how many shells it took
