Hunting Boots

Post by Bberry20 » Thu Aug 30, 2012 7:31 am

Anyone tried these boots?

I know LL Bean has a great return policy, so i was thinking of picking up a pair for hunting season. I thought i would see if anyone has tried these and what there thoughts were.

I have a pair that I have been wearing since spring. So far they seem to be working out great! They are waterproof, light, and basically feel like a sneaker when you wear them. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. On a side note, for me they ran a bit big, so I ended up getting a full size smaller than I usually wear. LL Bean was great to work with and sent me another pair overnight with a return label for the first pair.

Have you tried them in cold weather by chance?

No, I have not yet, but they seem like they will be just fine. I would say the coldest weather I have been in yet is about 45 degrees. I also forgot to mention in the first post that the shoe lace system on these boots is also very cool. You can adjust them on the fly by twisting the knob. It doesn't sound that nice, but it really is and they never come loose or untied.

I've always been too cheap to buy decent boots, to be honest. But, as we speak, I'm sitting out at a public area, looking at the four pairs of socks I brought so I an change them and keep my feet relatively dry, and I am sitting here waiting for the dew to dry up some and I decided it is about that time. I just placed an order for these boots. Haha.

My experience with Gore-tex boots for walking grass has not been good, the grass makes quick work of them. I love Rockies (Gore-tex) for deer hunting and ice fishing I stick with leather for upland hunting.

I got my boots this morning. NICE. Lighter than my sneakers, and the lacing is actually cord with a with a mechanism to loosen and tighten it. I was bummed becase I thought I'd be SOL if it broke. Never worked with L.L. Bean before so I didn't know their guarantee. If I dacide in ten years that I don't like the boots I can return them, no questions asked .. and it is free. Same if they deteriorate or or anything.

After a 3 day hunt this weekend my feet are blistered and aching. These LLBean boots interest me but I unfortunately have flat feet, no arches. Feet like a gorilla. Can somebody who owns these tell me how pronounced the arch is in these boots? If they have the same setup as most boots do then I doubt I could be comfortable in them. Still, I need to find something that will work.
