There is some great bird hunting, but it is very different than midwest pheasant/grouse/hun hunting. Mountain grouse are seldom hunted, but can be great fun with a good pointing dog. Look for areas with wet springs and aspen, you will start to recognize good habitat after awhile. Expect to put in the miles and time climbing mountains to find birds, densities are pretty low.

Chukar are awesome birds, expect to do lots climbing, only to see the birds flush out of range! I think chukars are by far the most challenging birds to hunt. They live in some demanding country, and you cannot just show up and pay a farmer to access the best habitat. Wild chukars are earned, and are that much more rewarding.

Do you know of any one that has english pointers that I could talk to. Would this be a good dog for Utah. Im looking at another versitle hunting dog Im looking at Puddelpointer or Griffon. The pointers Im looking at are English Setters and English Pointers.

Boy if that isn't true though it's easier thaN finding land to pheasant hunt.
Sure love my Pudel Pointer for just about everything. Maybe not a big ranger but everything else he certainly earns his keep.

puddelpointers do ok in the heat. Im sure they cant run as long as a EP
