MN - First pheasant hunt

Post by bigdaddy » Sun Oct 02, 2011 7:23 pm

I didn't grow up hunting so I have no experience. My pup won't be ready until next year, but my 11 year old son is ready now. We've been to a PF family shoot and firing a 20 ga really piqued his interest. Anybody in Southern MN willing to let the two of us walk along with you for part of a day afield?

I'll probably reach out to our county PF chapter as well...

Come to IL and we will do what ever we need to do to give you and your son a good day or two in the field.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Way to go you guys! This is what it should be about. :)
I pity the man that has never been loved by a dog!

Maybe we should start a thread for hunt finders? Or maybe this could be it, would a great resource for folks new to hunting to get a chance to get out with more experienced folks, would be especially good to get young folks interested.

Hope you find a good opportunity Bigdaddy.

That would be great..My son just passed his hunt test and most folks I know Deer and duck hunt more that upland. Would be nice to hook up with some folks in surrounding states.

I think it could be a whole other section of the board divided by regions for this kind of thing. I know it would help a lot of people get into this when they dont know anyone to be involved with.

If anyone is in SE Wisconsin, Milwaukee area and wants to experience a hunt give me a call. I am a member at two hunt clubs and know others we can call and book birds, no membership required.
Always like to start out the youngsters to get them interested but would like to hunt with some experienced guys and dogs also. Gives me something to compare mine to.
I don't know any public land down here to hunt, too populated. Used to own land in Northern Wisconsin but sold that this spring due to the economy, gas, etc. Miss the wild bird hunting opportunities but not the work involved.
