Mutiple species fun!!

Post by MTO4Life » Mon Nov 02, 2009 7:51 pm

I'm going to be assisting another forum member with a youth pheasant hunt in a couple of weeks. My girl hasn't been on pheasant before, so I took her to a game farm to get her on a few (I know, not the same as wild, but I don't have wild pheasant around me!!). What a blast we had!! We ended up with 4 phez, 3 quail and one chuckar. Missed another couple of chuckar, but such is life!!! Just thought I'd post a couple of pics as I'm pretty happy. She was only broke this summer, but her manners were spot on. She even had a nice pheasant stop to flush where I couldn't see her, only the bird flying away as they were over the hill. When I got there, she was standing watching where it had gone... I was soooooo happy. I also missed a couple of grouse, but such is the way it goes. Anyhow, here are a few pictures of her. Sorry for the quality of some of the pics, the new point and shoot camera I have isn't great (needs to be returned!).

Here she is on the first chuckar of the day...

Another pheasant (is actually just to the right of her)

Last bird of the day, a quail!

One of the better things to strap on a dog's neck. Great to know where they are. That's how I found her on a bird. I couldn't find her, then it beeped she was on point. I'm spoiled with this easy way to hunt.... it's a great life!
