Woodcock Hunt 12-27-08

Post by lawoodcocker » Sat Dec 27, 2008 5:00 pm

Hunted this morning from 7:45 am - 12:30 pm. Had 2 brits and a GSP on the ground in the same area we found the covey of quail in last week. We are still having temps near 80 deg (78, cloudy w/ 20 mph SE winds). No new birds. Had 2 points today and 1 kill with 3 miles on our boot soles.

I'm in Pointe Coupee Parish and the woodcock in my area have rolled out on us with this warm weather. The sloughs here at my farm have so many tree tops down in them from Gustav that you can not work your way thru them. I had to call my GSP lady off of two because I could nor even start to get in where she was. Need some cold weather as if you you don't know. Three miles is a lot of sole time for the point you got.

Tell me about it. Normally, in this same plot we can walk about 1/2 mile and get a 3-man limit. We need cold weather and a little rain would not hurt either.
