Anyone been hunting pheasants in Northwest Iowa?

Just wondering if anyone on here has been hunting pheasants around northwest Iowa. I hunt around sioux city and hunting has been terrible. I didn't get my first bird of the season until last weekend. I went hunting today and got 1. The past several years I was easily getting at least 1-2 birds a day. I've probably gone out 12 times so far this season and I only have 2. Has it been the same all around northwest Iowa or is it just the spots I'm hunting?

I have a friend from this forum that is somewhere around Sioux City this holiday weekend. From what he emailed, he got into quite a few pheasant on Friday. Sounded like most of them were jumpy and jumped up from quite a ways out. Maybe some nice Iowa snow will hold 'em down a little. I'll grill him when he gets back, or maybe he'll see this post and pm you. I'm having a lousy season here in east central Iowa and was wondering how it is in the NW, where the DNR has the birds rated in higher numbers. Depressing........ Denise

Just returned and saw two hens over 3 days. Did see about a dozen in SE Iowa as I was driving down the interstate...

Our season opens tomorrow here in OK and while out a couple weeks ago, saw well over 200 in just a couple hours.
