Time for somethin "new" this Season

We've been hitting the woodcock and grouse woods a few times a week since Opening Weekend and I wanted to change it up a bit.....Took Otto out on some new-to-me Public Land to hunt pheasant today...I did a good job at researching the area(googleearth) and the first spot I wanted to try was in fact good habitat as was the second...

In fours hours of hard walkin we (well, Otto) managed to find four birds (all roosters)....I had shots at two of them and connected with the 20g Franchi AL-48

Beautiful cool morning to be out and the dog enjoyed the change in cover....he seems to open up or find another gear when we're in pheasant cover...very cool to watch him work.....

Have had the Franchi for 11 years....was my only shotgun for a while..... have taken woodcock, grouse, pheasant, and Spring turkeys with it...I do have a 12 g M2000 Stoeger now for when I'm feelin like a little more punch.....

Will be getting my now 11 year old son a Franchi when he's a bit older and can appreciate a sub 5-1/2 lb, sub $1000 autoloader

Took Otto out early this morning and managed to bag two more phez for the freezer in 3 hours...Should have limited on woodcock as well but my shooting wasn't the best this morning....ottto had found/pointed 5 woodcock
Pretty startling when a rooster goes up and you were expecting a woodcock was being pointed...just about filled my pants
