Anybody use an outfitter in Kansas to get access to private land?

Try Jim Gorley. 785-249-4316. Check him out at www.setterdogs.com. Great guy. Works very hard for his clients. We'll be hunting with him for a few days after Thanksgiving. Has good dogs. This will be our second year hunting wild birds on private land with Jim, but have hunted with him for several years at an excellent controlled shooting area ranch. If you need more information, feel free to send me a pm. Good luck. Love the looks of you dog!!

A group of us have been using Outdoor Obsessions for quite a few years. Great outfit http://www.myoutdoorobsessions.com/

Tell Eric (the owner) Jamie from the Miller group recommended him if you choose to go this route...heading out in less than a week with our group....can't wait

Enjoy

Bossman-
I was just kidding around. I wouldnt want people know my sweet spots, littering, shooting my birds, or any other situation that could come up. Also I am not insured and could assume or defer the risk to the landowners. :D I put to much work into landowner relationships, population control, and property management in general to risk losing it.

I would take you out, but trying to leave all my ground that I have acsess alone, birds are here, but till it gets cold it wont be worth the time and effort they are just to spread out cuase of the temps and year we have had.

Don't need guides, dogs or a game farm. Looking more for private land and willing to pay trespass fee.

If your waiting until after Thanksgiving to hunt you shouldn't have to pay to hunt. Just go knock on some doors and hit some WIHA. Not a good year to come to KS but it beats staying at home!

I have hunted the last four years with Greg Wyrick of Wyrick Farms, he lives in Haviland Kansas and has access to a lot of land, besides his own. He is a great guy and has good dogs, he will also let you bring your own dogs. Check his web site out and if decide to hunt with him, tell him Dirk from New Mexico recommended him.

Just left North Central Kansas this morning. Tough hunting all public and walk in areas. Thought we were in luck the first day there I had about 45 minutes before shooting hours closed and found a 1 rooster and hen. Flushed wild. Next morning went to a walk in area and pulling in the parking spot was a small covey of quail on the edge. Backed out and pulled up the road, unloaded the dogs and headed back towards the birds. They flushed wild and across the road where we couldn't go. Ran the dogs down a creek edge and my GSP went on point and the brittany backed. Flushed a small covey of 6 birds that flew across the river and never got a clean shot. Walked great looking walk in areas for never saw another bird for 3 days. On the last day the last spot had 2 rooster flush wild and a couple of hens. All in all the cover was great just no birds. My dog had 1 point in 5 days. Met a few other bird hunters doing the same thing as us and similar story, great cover no birds. Since it was the last week of deer season most outfitters were with deer hunters. I will not go back without private land as part of the hunt. Didn't run across many deer hunter either.
