A nice, late afternnon New England bird hunt......

Post by GrayDawg » Sat Oct 30, 2010 6:22 pm

We went out late this afternoon for some Woodcock & Pheasant- Managed to knock down 2 Pheasant & 2 Woodcock! The second Woodcock is in my hand.

Katy did well & hunted hard. She had a nice retrieve on one of the pheasants and a beautiful point/retrieve on one of the Woodcock.

Sorry about the quality of the picture- took it with my BlackBerry with the truck headlights on us.

Sharp pictures are a dime-a-dozen... that picture has ambience!

I enjoy reading after hunt posts and seeing the pics. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words fellas............. the weather was perfect- we just had to get out.
The Pheasants were a bonus- we're headed to the NGSPA Pheasant Championship next Friday at Wye Island, MD
so I look at it as a good tune up!

Rick, to answer your question- Katy is about 44 lbs. soaking wet. She gets in alot of conditioning/training
work, so she's lean & mean. As for size........ I'd say she has a smaller frame as far as females go. I really have no idea
what she stands at the withers- I don't think I've ever put the tape to her.

We got up to Maine- hunted Wednesday afternoon & all of Thursday. Friday was a complete washout- 45 mph wind and
torrential rain, we never even went out. We were into birds & the company as well as the food was outstanding.
