Pheasant Hunting ND

Post by rkelly » Tue Nov 17, 2009 8:02 pm

Just got back from a 4 day trip to ND with djloder. Had some great dog work and managed to fill out every day. Had some 200yd+ track and retrieves of wounded birds by the dogs. Here are a few pics.

The second kick from a mule is of very little educational value - from Wing and Shot.

What part of the State did you go to? Did you go during the week or did you see a few weekend deer hunters out there?

I hear Mott can be tough on a young dog ... too many birds at one time!

We were in the Mott area and it was a fun trip. Lots of birds and I was really impressed with how my young pup handle these birds, knowing I would have a few blow ups when we would see the birds fly out, after the first day he clamed down nicely. The collar said he ran over 70+ miles in that four day hunt glad we had them in shape or it would have been a tough hunt with out these pups.

SD is next.

Derek,
Looks like you guys got in a great hunt. I will have to say hunting round Mott is hard to get on land without paying to hunt. Iv'e hunted north of there and it was good also. I was in SD at the sametime and had a blast with Elie, watching him come around has been the best time. Who had the other FB in the photo? Thanks for the photos!

That's my old man's pup Elsie it was a litter mate of Vern's. She is a darn good bird dog with one great nose. He is the one that got me hooked.

You aint liein, My 8 1/2 year ole lab was running 600 yards to the front one day.....between the roosters and the jackrabbits he lost his cotton
pickin mind :D

Was good to see him act like a pup tho, Wasn't angry at all, reigned him in and got to work after his extracurricular mission.
