So my Pointer turned 2 this fall. Last year in her inaugural season she was just learning, but I hunted her a lot. That being said, there was a steep learning curve. This year, due to life circumstances I hunted about 15 days... 35 less than last year, give or take.
Today I took her out for a post season run. She worked hard then seemed to get birdy. She worked this bird for a good 15 minutes, then boom! Solid point. Bird pinned. I flushed it 15 yards in front of her. She stayed steady. She may just turn into a grouse dog.

It's a good feeling watching them finally put it all together, but rest assured it will all come unraveled when you have a gun in your hand or your buddy is in tow and you just got done telling him how good he or she has been doing. Or maybe not, I may just be having a cathartic moment.

Garrison, I have no doubt that a shotgun blast would've really tested her steadiness!
