Huge Brag
Just returned from our first trial this fall and finished my 2nd FC. Heidi went 2nd out of 14 in the Open All Age and 1st out of 20 in the Open Limited Gun Dog to finish her with a 4 point major. Many Kudos to the folks that have helped me along the way from the wrangers, judges, scouts, and many friends I've made. And, of course, my mentor....Styles Bridges.
And if that wasn't enough, my 3 Saddle puppies out of my first litter from my first FC Abbey, went 1st, 2nd, and 3rd out of six in Open Puppy. They placed in the order of the Pic below, Levi, Molly, then Oscar. The judges asked me what order I would have placed them in and I couldn't tell you because they were that close. Oscar is the most stylish dog but a brown dog is hard to see at 300-400 yards.
There was no firing of Blanks so I decided ahead of time to not flush if there was bird contact since they are standing their birds already, mind you they are just short of 8 months. Molly hit birds within the first 5 minutes and stood em like a champ. I was able to ride up slowly, get off my horse, stroke her up, collar her and send her on her way with no let down. It couldn't have happened any better for her.
A great friend of mine ran a big running EP and warned me that his dog would probably be running all the way to Cleveland and was hoping he could hang on to him. Well, I think he scared my poor little GSP because all the EP ever saw was Levi's behind for 20 minutes. I thanked him for making my dog look good. Levi streched out like a racehorse and was gone and never lost contact with me. After the placements, my buddy kept riding me how he'd of had 1st if I didn't show up. These are the days that make trialing fun with great people.

Re: Huge Brag
Thanks all. I hated to use the word brag but that is what the forum is named. What I really am is blessed good dogs and tremendous people who have taught me more in three years than many learn in a liftime. I forgot how much fun and work the young dog stakes were. Now that I got comfortable handling the older dogs, the puppies had me absolutely exhausted and drained after running the 3 of them. It was only 10 AM and I needed a drink to calm my nerves down. Anyway, Thanks Again.

Re: Huge Brag
No shame in using the word brag. You have done a good job. BTW ill take the dark dog off your hands and run him in the ca desert this winter.

I thought your next dog was going to be a white one. Them dark dogs are hard to see "way out there"ultracarry wrote:No shame in using the word brag. You have done a good job. BTW ill take the dark dog off your hands and run him in the ca desert this winter.
Congrats doco.
Re: Huge Brag
Bill,
A belated congrats are in order- way to go Heidi !! BTW, the 3 pups look great. I liked Levi as an 8 week old pup, the first time you posted pictures!
Will I see you at the HVGSPC trial at Flaherty in 10 days?
Rob
